On the 15th day of the lunar 7th month, DKBS hosted a Ullambana offering for Dhamma followers to honour and remember their departed loved ones. The atmosphere was filled with the fragrance of flowers and the sight of carefully selected fruits, offered as symbols of reverence.
The ceremony started with a Puja procession and paying homage to the Triple Gem. Ven. K. Rathanasara, DKBS’ Founder and Spiritual Advisor, then delivered a thought-provoking sermon on hungry ghosts, emphasising that our actions in this life shape our existence after death. Greed, hatred, and delusion are the leading causes of being reborn as a hungry ghost. Sharing merits with them is one way to assist these hungry ghosts.
The ceremony concluded with the chanting of the Tirokudda Sutta and dedication of merits. It was a meaningful way to spend a Sunday morning.
