On the 9th of August, about 120 Dhamma followers chose to spend their National Day public holiday profoundly by coming together for the One Day of Mindfulness 2024 retreat at DKBS. This retreat served as an opportunity to commemorate our nation’s success and to focus on enhancing our spiritual well-being. The day commenced with a thought-provoking sermon delivered by DKBS’ Founder and Spiritual Advisor, Ven. K. Rathanasara, exploring the significance of observing Noble Silence & Eight Precepts.
The retreat continued with a Puja procession, observing the eight precepts and paying homage to the Triple Gem. Ven. K. Rathanasara’s two additional sermons, “Awakening Mindfulness” and “Is Chanting a Form of Meditation?”, provided further enlightenment. Participants were led through two deep meditation sessions, one focusing on “Mindfulness on Thoughts” and the other on “Mindfulness on Death,” encouraging contemplation and introspection.
A discussion on the Avarantata Sutta delved into why some struggle to realise the Dhamma. The retreat culminated in a stimulating Q&A session, the conclusion of the 8 precepts, and a beautiful moment of sharing merits, leaving everyone with a sense of spiritual fulfilment.
