
How shall we judge if the dhamma we are hearing is the true dhamma? Do we look to the authority of the speaker, such as whether the person is a monk or nun? A senior monk perhaps? What about one with scholarly credentials? These are common and important questions among Buddhists. The key is to hold your judgement until you have investigated if what you have heard is in accordance to the Buddha’s teaching. But how would we know that? Where are the Buddha’s teachings to be found?
