We are all familiar with those who tend to talk negatively about other people. Or who are slow to recognize the good in others. The same people may, on the other hand, gloat at their own good qualities. We may even recognise such tendencies in ourselves. What is behind them? What are the deep-rooted defilements that drive us this way? Conversely, how do our spiritual qualities manifest themselves in how we think or talk about others and ourselves?
