A person may be born into fortunate circumstances in part due to his or her good kamma of past lives. Would the next life be bright too or will it turn dark? Much depends on how this person act, speak and think in the present life. The same too for one who has been born into unfortunate circumstances. Whether the next life will be more or less fortunate would depend on how he or she lives the present life. What does all this tell us about the nature of kamma? What does it tell us about our role in determining the quality of our lives?
