
We are able to access what the Buddha taught more than 2500 years ago because generations of monks and nuns committed his teachings to memory and recited his teachings. Now that we have the Buddha’s teachings in print or digital formats, why do we continue this practice of chanting? Are we merely holding on to a tradition? Or is it in fact an important part of our dhamma practice? How does chanting keep us on the Buddhist path?
