Is Buddhism the same as other religions? If it is not, then what is the significant difference between Buddhism and the other religions? To find the answer, we have to first know how religion came into existence and why a need for religion. There are many views given by scholars and anthropologists but the Buddha pointed out that religion came into existence because of ignorance and fear. As a result of being ignorance of how natural disasters, diseases and deaths occurred, mankind not only created gods, goddesses, and sought refuge in them, they also performed religious rites, rituals and ceremonies. All these to allay their ignorance and fear. Buddhism is unique because the Buddha teaches the safe way to permanently eradicate ignorance and fear by going to the Supreme Refuge and to develop two distinguished unique methods. What are these?
